  1.  51:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the
  2. prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have
  3. mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:
  4. according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my
  5. transgressions.
  6.  51:2  Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me
  7. from my sin.
  8.  51:3  For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin [is]
  9. ever before me.
  10.  51:4  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this]
  11. evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou
  12. speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest.
  13.  51:5  Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my
  14. mother conceive me.
  15.  51:6  Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in
  16. the hidden [part] thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
  17.  51:7  Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and
  18. I shall be whiter than snow.
  19.  51:8  Make me to hear joy and gladness; [that] the bones
  20. [which] thou hast broken may rejoice.
  21.  51:9  Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine
  22. iniquities.
  23.  51:10  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right
  24. spirit within me.
  25.  51:11  Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy
  26. holy spirit from me.
  27.  51:12  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me
  28. [with thy] free spirit.
  29.  51:13  [Then] will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners
  30. shall be converted unto thee.
  31.  51:14  Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my
  32. salvation: [and] my tongue shall sing aloud of thy
  33. righteousness.
  34.  51:15  O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall show
  35. forth thy praise.
  36.  51:16  For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give
  37. [it]: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
  38.  51:17  The sacrifices of God [are] a broken spirit: a broken
  39. and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
  40.  51:18  Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the
  41. walls of Jerusalem.
  42.  51:19  Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of
  43. righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering:
  44. then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
